Friday the 13th is a rare occurrence, but when it strikes, people tend to take caution. This day is known to bring bad luck to people through various superstitions and jinxes. We don’t believe in superstitions or Friday the 13th curses, but it never hurts to be careful! Here are 5 tips to help you survive Friday the 13th.

Get a Lucky Token – There are a number of different items you can carry with you on this day to repel any “bad luck” that comes your way. Rabbit’s foot, four-leaf clovers, and horseshoes are well known good luck charms to bring you good fortune. Of course, if you have your own personal lucky trinket, that can work as well!

Avoid Any Superstitions – There are many superstitions associated with Friday the 13th that are known to bring bad luck to anyone who may encounter them. Avoid walking past black cats, walking under ladders and stepping on any cracks during this day. Of course, if you have a good luck charm handy you can easily avoid all of these curses!

Don’t Go Camping! – It’s safe to say that everyone has either seen or heard of the popular Friday the 13th movie franchise. The film is centered around a haunted summer camp that is inhabited by the notorious horror film icon, Jason Vorhees. Although Jason doesn’t exist and there’s no such thing as haunted camps, it would still be spooky to spend the night in the woods on this day. Stay indoors instead!

Keep Salt Handy – If you ever encounter or find yourself involved with one of the Friday the 13th superstitions, simply take a shaker of salt and throw it over your shoulder. However, be sure that you don’t accidently spill any salt while you’re eating. That can cause bad luck as well!

Think Positively & Be Thankful – Since there’s no such thing as bad luck or curses, take this day to reflect on how lucky you really are in life. Staying positive on this day is really the only defense you need against any negative feelings, superstitions or karma that may come upon you. Live life like it’s any other day!
